Gynecology is the branch of medicine pertaining to functions and diseases specific to women, especially those affecting the reproductive system, including routine primary and preventive care, pregnancy and delivery, and menopause. General gynecologic problems include abnormal bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, loss of bladder control, pelvic floor disorders, problems with pelvic support and contraceptive counseling.
