Applicant must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from accredited School of Nursing, Must
Possess a current California RN License, Public Health Nurse Certificate, and have current BLS Certification
from the American Heart Association or Red Cross. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License with a
safe driving record, DMV record required. Preferred 3-5 years acute care or ambulatory care nursing
experience with high acuity patients and population health measures. The Public Health Nurse serves as a
member of the health care team and as an advisor to individuals and families, pregnant teens and young
parents in home environment in the Indian Communities within an assigned geographic area under the
supervision of the Community/Clinical Nursing Director. Goal is to reduce morbidity, reduce incidence of
teen/unwed pregnancy, encourage good parenting skills, and health families, and appropriate immunization
of specific age groups. This is considered a Category I position for potential exposure to Bloodborne
Pathogens and other Hazardous Materials under OSHA. Must be able to work a variable schedule including
evening and weekends to meet the program needs. Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be
sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.
